Daily Bread Food Bank, a not-for-profit organization, empowers other South Florida Not-for-profit organizations to feed needy people and improve their lives. We do this by providing food and other grocery products; and by educating and engaging our community to fight hunger and poverty.
We are the South Florida affiliate of
America's Second Harvest , a member of the
Florida Association of Food Banks and the largest food bank in the State of Florida.
Daily Bread Food Bank was founded in 1981 as a not-for-profit organization in response to hunger in our community. Daily Bread operates on a very simple principle: reduce hunger by reducing waste. 20% of all food produced in the United States goes to waste.

NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT COMMITS TO
MEETING THE CHALLENGES OF TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES.

SOUTH FLORIDA, JULY 1, 2008 - Daily Bread Food Bank is pleased to announce that Bruce Berman, a senior partner in the Miami office of international law firm McDermott Will & Emery, has been elected as President of the Board of Daily Bread Food Bank, an affiliate of America's Second Harvest and the largest charitable organization feeding the hungry in South Florida. The Board of Directors of Daily Bread is a committed, passionate and diversified group of citizens dedicated to the mission of ending hunger in South Florida.

"I am honored by the opportunity, and invigorated by the challenges, of leading this dedicated organization during this time of increasing prices, concerns over food shortages and the critical need to serve more of South Florida's hungry families and children," commented Mr. Berman.
"I look forward to engaging the many generous donors in our community to work with us in this vitally important mission."
Mr. Berman joined Daily Bread's Board of Directors in 2002, serving for the last six years as the organization's chief legal officer. He will serve a two-year term as the Board's President, commencing July 1, 2008.
Mr. Berman is a commercial trial lawyer, whose practice encompasses a broad range of commercial disputes, in federal and state trial and appellate courts and in domestic and international arbitration tribunals, involving substantive areas of law including corporate, federal and state securities, aviation, intellectual property (copyright, trademark and unfair competition), health law and real estate.
McDermott Will & Emery has a long-standing relationship with Daily Bread as a provider of pro bono services. The people of McDermott are committed to giving back to the communities where they work and live, assisting those who are unable to afford legal services.
