On Friday, January 11th at 5pm the inaugural Back-Pack Program for South Florida will be kicked off with a press conference and a volunteer back-pack 'stuffing' session at the YWCA located at 351 NW 5th Street in Miami. In this, the first program of its kind in the state of Florida, needy children will be given a backpack full of nutritious, healthy foods each Friday. This food will sustain those children who might normally go hungry over the weekend and holiday breaks.
With funding provided by Peacock Foundation Inc., Daily Bread Food Bank in a partnership with the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade will be able to help alleviate hunger for many children in South Florida through this program. As the selected agency, the YWCA will fill the backpacks each week throughout the year with food provided by Daily Bread and distribute them to needy children.
Daily Bread Food Bank is 'Proud as a Peacock' to be the beneficiary of a grant from Peacock Foundation Inc. With this gracious gift and our partnership with the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade, the Back-Pack Program will be able to feed many hungry children throughout the year.
